Beyond the Cave: The Cave

I think either of these two would be good domain names for your blog:

    beyond-the-cave.com

    or

    vladscave.com

    vladscave.com is a little strange. I do like beyond-the-cave.com

I registered them both last night. You can them for my cost (~$21) if you check GoDaddy's site and figure out a painless (for me) way for me to transfer them to you.

That could work - you don't think it's a little too generic?

No more than your preferred option. I think it gives a nod to the 3 (cave) reasons you stated whilst also alluding to the fact that you blog about a variety of topics (and beyond).

A little bit abstract perhaps but nothing that doesn't deny anyone an answer. Besides, it's available and you can initialise it!

    Good points.

I don't think the issue is that it's generic, but that it doesn't fit the Plato analogy. "Caves and beyond" sounds like the discussion is going to be about caves and other things. "Beyond the cave" or "Outside the cave" sounds like you are going to shine the light of the sun on topics that your readers have only seen so far by firelight.

BTW, my developer guys say "www" is sort of passé these days. To quote the lead developer directly,

"From a technical perspective, the "www" prefix is redundant relic left over from the Internet's past. In my opinion, all it does is make it longer to communicate verbally and adds unnecessary length to text. I think the reason why some people insist on "www" is to be sure their audience knows its a website."

I like the www - it reminds of the good old days of 1999

Heh. Maybe you can get a tripod domain, if they still have those.

Incidentally, do you have any experience at marketing a subscription-based website via social media, or the Interwebs more generally?

I like beyond-the-cave but it's no easy process coming up with names. You are gunning for being the voice of generation Y (an interesting choice but a diverse target audience).

    Oooo that's a good one.
